Caroline, Part II

Where we last left off, I was infatuated with Caroline, a 21 year old Barista who looked exactly like Grace Slick. Remarkably, this is not fiction but is the telling of someone I actually met and knew in Juneau, Alaska.

So I continued visiting Caroline, and we continued having little small talk chats.

One day, Caroline absolutely astonished me. It still makes me laugh to remember this.

She asked me to go see a movie with her. I don’t remember exactly how this conversation played out, but I sure remember how I felt.

I couldn’t believe my luck. It was surreal. As it later turned out, Caroline was about as straight as a lady can be. She was simply such a down-home-country and girl-next-door friendly type that she thought nothing of asking an espresso stand customer to join her for a movie on a Friday night. She wasn’t asking me out on a date-date, she just genuinely liked me as a person (it’s true that I can be charming) and she wanted to be my friend.

Well, I didn’t know any of this at the time. I didn’t know anything about Caroline except that she was impossibly gorgeous and very sweet.

You can imagine me pulling up to the the espresso stand every morning, Caroline opening the little sliding glass window while “Dream Weaver” plays in the background and her black hair blows in the wind – slow motion – just like movie scenes we have all seen.

All I knew is that this beautiful creature wanted to hang out with me. I thought she might be bisexual. I’ve seen plenty of pretty and very femme bisexual ladies in my day.

Friday rolled around. I can’t remember much, but I’m certain that I wore my best outfit, and I probably spent an hour fussing over my makeup. I laugh so hard as I remember this. Dreamy, sensitive and fantastical little Melissa of 11 years ago, a little younger and a little dumber, preparing for what she thinks might be a *date* with Grace Slick’s modern twin. Wondering how something like this could possibly happen and thinking there might be a God up there after all.

We met up. I don’t remember the movie. We had a beer afterward at a bar – I don’t remember what we talked about. All I remember is sneaking glances at her profile and being wildly nervous the whole night through.

*to be continued in the next entry*

heh heh, suspense!

Now let’s do a standard blog n eat entry.

I rose early and I am eating at 9:30 a.m.

The meal went fine due to my Caroline memoir, and the fact that I am eating again is a very, very good thing.

I finished most, then got a piece of fresh ground pepper in my throat, began coughing and with my issues – as you can imagine – that was the end if that (this was 3 minutes ago). I just pounded a Boost.

I believe that my plan of pounding a Boost Plus after each meal in order to get my metabolism back is working. I’ve been doing this for almost a week and I am eating 2 meals a day and I am feeling better.

The body can be resilient when given a chance to recover from self-inflicted damage from things like anxiety-driven starvation and alcoholism.

I have an interview in a couple hours, sonI must go for now.

thanks for reading

    1. Hahaaaa! Sorry! It’s because I only write if I need to eat, and the meals are going down quicker now 💜. It’s a good thing. It’s also time for me to shower soon and prepare for the zoom interview.
I generally don’t make inpatient women wait for anything, haha. I could have flirted with you quite cleverly based on your comment, but I refuse. It didn’t escape my notice that YOU are also a gorgeous brunette but I promised myself I wouldn’t crush on yet another blogger I’ve never met 😆😅😅. It didn’t go so well for me last time. Thank you for reading, as always!
